In 1976, William Holz began using his own vehicle to deliver meals to 10 local homebound seniors. Monday through Friday volunteers would pick up meals prepared by San Joaquin County and deliver them. In 1978, our current location was purchased increasing our abilities to serve seniors. Overtime, LOEL’s “Meals on Wheels” and In-House lunch programs expanded to serving more than100 meals each day. In 2010, LOEL received grant funding to build our commercial kitchen where we now prepare more than 200 fresh nutritious meals each weekday.
LOEL continues to look for donors to help keep the program sustainable.
Volunteer opportunities are available Monday through Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
